If there is not a disclaimer, then heat has been applied at some point. Many companies use batch pasteurization, which essentially cooks the aloe vera, damaging any biological components. To retain the 70 biologically active AMB Wellness utilizes flash pasteurization, applying heat for a limited amount of time, to provide the highest efficacy and aloe benefits on the market.

  • Is Aloe Vera VEGAN?
Finding vegan options on the industries like beauty industry or nutraceutical industry was not nearly as easy as it is now than 5 or 10 years ago. The worldwide market was really small and limited. Some high-end beauty brands offered vegan products and smaller vegan lines did not exist, the demand for vegan finished products wasn’t what it is today.
According to the Vegan Society, “Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, cosmetics, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”
A vegan/plant-based material it is exactly what the name says: based on plants. Plant-based products are vegan, lactose-free, better for the planet, and full of micronutrients, as Aloe Vera, getting the whole wide range of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals available in plants.
The Aloe vera plant has been known and used for centuries for its health, beauty, medicinal, and skincare properties and there’s no doubt that the commercialization of Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) is a success story. Products containing Aloe are found almost everywhere. Consequently, many different kinds of natural-based industries are choosing Aloe Vera as it principal ingredient, in the cosmetic, food & beverage and dietary supplement industries.
Plant-based is perhaps the fastest-growing segment in natural. It is also one of the more confusing segments from the consumer’s perspective. So, how do you leverage the strength of this growing trend to maximize category sales, increase major demand on the final products, and compete more effectively against mainstream threats.
The manufacturer’s journey has changed dramatically. In addition to it, consumers want to buy effective, healthy, and natural products that protect their skin and improve their health and body system. The natural category has exploded and now accounts for a growing percentage of the global personal care market, and global nutraceutical market. The personal care industry goes natural and organic same as food & beverages, people appear to tend to drink more beverages or natural supplements with function and healthful values. They are looking to live longer, better, and wiser. Millennials are the trendsetters, creating groundswell movements through their use of social platforms, creating a top-down nutrition movement. In a lot of ways, the benefits of a plant-based seem like common sense: plants, vegetables, and fruits that are good for you; we all know that, and customers are aware now at the time of choosing a product that they will apply on their skin or take. Made from natural components, vegan products have minimal effects on your skin. They are not tested on animals and are safe from harmful chemicals.A product that is vegan does not contain any animal ingredients or animal-derived ingredients.

  • Why choose vegan ingredients?
    For the animals
Preventing the exploitation of animals is not the only reason for choosing vegan/ plant-based ingredients as Aloe Vera, but for many it remains a key factor in their decision. Specifics aside, avoiding animal products is one of the most obvious ways you can take a stand against animal cruelty and animal exploitation everywhere.
    For your health
Well-planned vegan diets follow healthy eating guidelines, and contain all the nutrients that our bodies need. Some research has linked vegan diets with lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and lower rates of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer. Going vegan is a great opportunity to learn more about nutrition and improve your health, taking advantage of all the nutrients plants like Aloe Vera has and feel all the benefits they can give to your body.
    For the environment
From recycling our household rubbish to cycling to work, we’re all aware of ways to live a greener life. One of the most effective things an individual can do to lower their carbon footprint is to avoid all animal products.
The demand for vegan products, including vegan beauty products, has soared, and beauty brands are rising to the challenge. Most attribute the new popularity of veganism to our culture’s growing awareness of how consumerism affects the planet and natural world, as well as our desire to make conscious, ethical choices. However, most experts agree that, in order to be vegan a product must not contain any ingredients derived from animals and must not have been tested on animals. The demand for ethical, sustainable, and vegan cosmetics is here to stay and not going away soon. In fact, it’s growing. Consumers are becoming increasingly vocal about their desire for naturally and ethically derived ingredients. It’s all part of a larger movement that’s dramatically shifting the landscape of the beauty industry—and even big brands are listening.

  • What are the Benefits of Aloe Vera for Skin Types?
Aloe vera is a versatile ingredient that can provide numerous benefits to various skin types that has the potential to soothe and hydrate the skin, which can result in a healthier and more vibrant appearance, regardless of whether you have dry, oily, combination, or sensitive skin.
For dry skin types, aloe vera’s hydrating properties can help soothe and replenish the skin’s moisture barrier. Aloe vera contains a polysaccharide called acemannan, which helps to lock in moisture, leaving the skin feeling soft and supple. Aloe vera can also help to soothe dry, itchy skin by reducing inflammation and redness.
For oily and acne-prone skin types, aloe vera’s anti-inflammatory properties can help to reduce inflammation and redness associated with breakouts. Aloe vera contains salicylic acid, which can help to unclog pores and prevent acne. The plant’s antibacterial properties can also help to fight acne-causing bacteria.

For combination skin types, aloe vera’s ability to balance the skin’s pH can help to regulate oil production in the T-zone while still providing hydration to the rest of the face. This can help to prevent excess oiliness in the T-zone while still keeping the skin moisturised.
For sensitive skin types, aloe vera’s gentle and soothing properties can help to calm and hydrate the skin without causing irritation. Aloe vera is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores, and it’s gentle enough to use on even the most sensitive skin.

  • Is aloe vera good for bodybuilding?
Yes, for muscle repair and growth, Aloe Vera is not just for sunburns. Its gel, when consumed, supports muscle tissue repair by promoting protein synthesis, which is essential for muscle growth. So, if you’re looking to gain some lean muscle, Aloe Vera might just be the secret ingredient you’ve been missing. Aminoacids for body builders and other athletes that rely on muscle mass, endurance and strength often have a higher demand for glutamine. Glutamine is one of aminoacids present in aloe vera raw material and is rapidly used by muscles during exercise. Consequently, having an adequate supply of glutamine/glutamic acid is important to support a healthy, active body. Serine is a non-essential amino acid derived from the amino acid glycine. It is important to overall good health, both physical and mental. Serine is especially important to proper functioning of the brain and central nervous system. Serine helps form the phospholipids needed to make every cell in your body. It is also involved in the function of RNA and DNA, fat and fatty acid metabolism, muscle formation, and the maintenance of a healthy immune system. The proteins used to form the brain, as well as the protective myelin sheaths that cover the nerves, contain serine. Without serine, the myelin sheaths could fray and become less efficient at delivering messages between the brain and nerve endings in the body, essentially short-circuiting mental function. Meat and soy foods, dairy products, wheat gluten, and peanuts are all good natural sources of serine, but today’s Western diet includes so much processed convenience food—amino acid supplementation may be needed more often than most people realize. Serine is a constituent of phospholipids, which help seal in moisture, so it is also often included as a natural moisturizing agent in many cosmetics and skin care preparations. Histidine is important for growth and tissue repair. Histidine comes to the blood stream especially when someone is affected by allergic complications. It aids in repairing of bodily tissues as well as for development. It also protects nerve cells by maintaining myelin sheath. It assists in the production of red and white blood cells. It also helps the body to fight against bodily damage resulting from radiation.

  • Why is beneficial for nutrition health care Aloe vera has L-Histidine?
Histidine is the chemical precursor to histamines, which plays a central role in allergic reactions — the body’s response to the presence of substances it perceives as alien and potentially dangerous. Released in allergic reactions, those histamines set into a motion a series of physical changes,
causing the dilation of capillaries, a drop in blood pressure, increased secretion of gastric acids, subcutaneous fluid leakage resulting in itchy skin and hives, and tightening of the smooth
muscles of the bronchial tubes. L-histidine is a conditionally essential amino acid, so-called because adults generally produce adequate amounts of the substance, but children quite often do not and must fill their needs through diet. Both plant and animal proteins are good sources of this amino acid, which is a building block of protein in your body. Apart from its central role as a
protein component, L-histidine has demonstrated a variety of medicinal properties both anecdotally and in clinical studies.

  • Why is beneficial for nutrition health care Aloe vera has L-Lysine?
Lysine: is important for growth, tissue repair and the production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies. L-Lysine is found in large amounts in muscle tissue. L-Lysine is one of the aminos that is of utmost importance to growth and development. It is used in the body for calcium absorption,
which results in bone and muscle growth as well as fat mobilization for energy uses.

  • Aloe vera has L-Threonine, what is the benefit for dietary supplements industry?
Threonine is used to form the body’s two most important binding substances, collagen, and elastin. It is also essential to maintain proper protein balance. Threonine is involved in liver functioning, lipotropic functions (when combined with aspartic acid and methionine) and in the maintenance of the immune system by helping in the production of antibodies and promoting growth and activity of the thymus. But perhaps its most useful property of all is that it allows better absorption of other nutrients, so protein sources containing threonine are more bio-available than others. It maintains the nitrogen balance and helps to maintain lean body mass in
periods of extreme stress and fatigue. It is also needed to produce antibodies, hormones (GH,
testosterone, insulin, you name it), enzymes, collagen and to repair damaged tissue, much like histidine and most of the essential amino acids. Next to maintaining it, it also helps to build new muscle protein. And the cardiovascular benefits include the maintenance of healthy blood vessels. Threonine- An essential amino acid that is not manufactured within the body, ever.

  • How does valine help muscle growth?
L-valine helps build muscle by bringing more glucose to the muscles as they are stressed and worked. On its own, valine does not build muscle. But taken with leucine and isoleucine, it helps facilitate greater muscle development. Valine also assists with brain function, and it can help you sleep. Aloe vera contains L-Valine helps the repair and growth of muscle tissue, as commonly attributed to BCAAs. It maintains the nitrogen balance and preserves the use of
glucose. Valine is an essential amino acid that is crucial for maintaining proper cell and organ functioning.

  • Does L-valine aid in muscle tissue recovery?
L-Valine is involved in the synthesis of proteins, which is necessary for the growth and repair of muscle tissue. It is particularly important for athletes and bodybuilders who engage in regular physical activity and need to support their muscle health and recovery. The essential amino acid L-valine (Val) is needed for the synthesis of proteins. It is also used as an energy fuel; its complete oxidation requires thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, pantothenate, biotin, lipoate, ubiquinone, magnesium, and iron.

  • What does the amino acid Valine do?
In the human body, Valine aids in the prevention of damage and destruction of muscle tissue, as it replenishes muscle tissue with the glucose needed to produce energy during physical activity. Valine is also a pathway in the biosynthesis of penicillin and is known to block the transport of tryptophan across the blood-brain barrier. On the other hand, Valine is an essential amino acid important for the normal functioning of the nervous system and cognition. Valine, along with Leucine and Isoleucine, forms a trio of branched-chain amino acids. This trio cannot be synthesized inside the body but must be obtained from external foods or from supplements. Valine is an important component in the body’s daily functioning and in the maintenance of muscle mass and the functioning of the immune system. This amino acid is not broken down by the liver but is consumed by the muscles. It promotes muscle growth and repair, helps to decrease stress and sleeplessness, and can act as an appetite suppressant.

  • What is aloe's methionine used for?
L-Methionine is important for healthy nails and skin. Aloe Vera are widely used in cosmetics. It has antioxidant properties. Methionine is an essential amino acid that helps the body process and eliminate fat. It contains sulfur, a substance that is required to produce the body’s most abundant natural antioxidant, glutathione. The body also needs plenty of methionine to produce two other sulfur-containing amino acids, cysteine, and taurine, which help the body eliminate toxins, build strong, healthy tissues, and promote cardiovascular health. Methionine (Met) is an amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. As an essential amino acid, methionine is not synthesized by Angora goats so they must ingest methionine or methionine-containing proteins. Together with cysteine, methionine is one of two sulfur-containing proteinogenic amino acids. Methionine is a lipotropic, or a chemical substance that helps the liver process fats (lipids). Other lipotropic include choline, inositol, and betaine (trimethyl glycine), all of which help prevent the accumulation of fat in the liver and thus ensure normal liver function, which is essential for the elimination of toxins from the body. Methionine is needed to make creatine, a nutrient naturally found primarily in
muscle tissue that provides the energy our muscles need to move and has been found to boost athletic performance during short, intense workouts.

  • What is aloe's Leucine used for?
Leucine, the strongest of the BCAAs, is responsible for the regulation of blood-sugar levels, the growth and repair of tissues in skin, bones, and of course skeletal muscle. It’s a strong potentiator to Human Growth Hormone (HGH). It helps in healing wounds, regulating energy, and assists in preventing the breakdown of muscle tissue. It functions on balancing blood sugar level in the body. It also promotes the development of the muscle tissue. It modulates the level of hormone production and energy regulation. It also provides support by preventing the breakdown of muscles. Deficiency in leucine may include dizziness, irritation, headache, fatigue, etc. It elevates the mood by stimulating the nerve system and may be important to staying motivated for whatever reason. It aids memory and together with its derivative, glutamine, is considered a smart vitamin (though they aren’t vitamins). It increases levels of epinephrine, nor-epinephrine, and dopamine in the anterior pituitary. All three are important neurotransmitters needed for optimum operation of the nerve system. It also helps the absorption of UV rays in sunlight, which in turn gives a higher rate of Vitamin D, a strong body hormone. Its main metabolite is tyrosine which increases levels of dopamine and nor-epinephrine, as stated above. It’s also one of the manufacturers of glutamine, the
amino acid that makes up the largest part of the amino acid pool.

  • What is aloe's L-tryptophan used for?
Tryptophan is responsible for the production of serotonin which is exclusively important for balancing nerve and brain functioning. It is beneficial for controlling hyperactivity among children. It aids in alleviating stress. It works effectively as an appetite suppressant. It also promotes reducing weight. His proteinogenic amino acid L-tryptophan is essential for
the human body and has an aromatic structure. Like phenylalanine, histidine and tyrosine, its structure contains an indole functional group, which means it cannot be synthesized and must be ingested as part of the diet.

  • What is aloe's L-histidine used for?
L-histidine is one of the semi-essential amino acids and has an imidazole functional group, which is typical for an aromatic amino acid. It is involved in the formation of proteins and influences several of the metabolic reactions in the body. As L-histidine is only produced in very small amounts by the body, it must predominantly be taken in through the diet. Infants in particular need an additional source of L-histidine, either through breast milk, special supplements, or formula milk, as a deficiency can led to growth problems and other conditions. Histidine is also an essential substance for those recovering from an illness and during growth (in childhood and the teenage
    years.

  • What is aloe's L- Glutamine used for?
Glutamine is one of the non-essential amino acids in humans. Although the body can produce it, immune system weaknesses and nerve problems can occur during times of high demand. Our body uses L-glutamine to create proteins, so-called amino sugars, and to support the production of the
super- antioxidant glutathione. The body also uses L-glutamine to increase water retention in muscle cells, help signal cell growth and to start intensifying production of protein and glycogen. Glutamine is therefore a very popular supplement with strength athletes. Among the free amino acids in human blood, L-glutamine is the most abundant at around 20% of the total. It also exists in a peptide-bonded state, which makes it chemically very stable. L-glutamine enables the production of the natural antioxidant glutathione, a known preventer of cell damage.

  • What is aloe's L-proline used for?
Proline, also known as L-proline, is an amino acid. It is non-essential because it can be synthesized by the body through the breakdown of L-glutamate, another amino acid. Protein is broken down into amino acids or building blocks. Collagen is a smooth and flexible tissue that covers and holds bones together, like glue. It is the main structural protein found throughout the body. It acts as a
shock absorber and reduces friction. It helps heal cartilage and cushion joints. Proline aids the body in breaking down proteins for use in healthy cells. In conjunction with lysine, another amino
acid, proline is a precursor for hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine. The body uses hydroxyproline to make collagen, tendons, ligaments and heart muscle. Collagen contains approximately 15 percent proline. For this reason, adequate proline is beneficial for the treatment of conditions such as osteoarthritis, soft tissue sprains and chronic back pain.

  • What is aloe's L-alanine used for?
Alanine, or L-alanine, is an amino acid that helps the body convert the simple sugar glucose into energy and eliminate excess toxins from the liver. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and are key to building strong, healthy muscles—alanine has been shown to help protect cells from being damaged during intense aerobic activity, when the body cannibalizes muscle protein to help produce energy. Alanine is crucial for preserving balanced levels of nitrogen and glucose in the body, which it does through a series of chemical actions called the alanine cycle. During the alanine cycle, any excess amino acids (proteins) in cells or tissues are transferred to a receptor molecule called pyruvate, which is produced by the breakdown of glucose. The pyruvate is then converted to alanine and transferred to the liver. The liver extracts nitrogen from alanine and converts some of it back into pyruvate, which can then be used to produce more glucose. This cycle, glucose—pyruvate—alanine—pyruvate—glucose, helps supply the body with the energy it needs to support cellular life. It also ensures that a constant supply of pyruvate is available to allow the synthesis of glucose and amino acids in the body. Tyrosin: is a component of protein amino sugars and amino lipids which has very important functions throughout the body. It is very important for brain nutrition because it is a precursor of the neurotransmitter’s dopamine,
    norepinephrine and epinephrine.

  • What vegetable Enzymes contains aloe vera?
Aloe Vera can provide some of the most important vegetable enzymes, basics of human nutrition. Important nutrients and phytochemicals found in plants are absorbed more easily by our bodies sometimes within minutes without too much effort on the part of the digestive system. As well, more of the nutrients are absorbed. Enzymes are endogenous catalysts which enable, accelerate or prevent chemical processes. The enzymes contained in the Aloe Vera gel help with digestion and in absorbing the sugars, proteins, and lipids of our daily food intake. Leading scientists agree that a portion of the enzymes present in Aloe Vera gel can destroy free radicals. Enzymes break down proteins, carbohydrates and fats turning it into fuel increasing cell functions. For instance, bradykinase reduces inflammation and stimulates the immune system. Lipase is a digestive enzyme with a fat-splitting effect. Phosphokinase acts as an energy transmitter to muscle cells. Naturally, the list of Aloe Vera properties does not leave out the many important enzymes.

  • Are there standards established defining what is and isn't aloe vera?
The IASC, and other countries such as the European Union, China, and Korea, have established standards to define what is (and what is not) “aloe vera” in finished products. The IASC standard states that only products containing acemannan, or the beta 1-4 acetylated glucomannans, can be accurately labeled as aloe vera. Acemannan is a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is present in aloe vera and is used as an identifier of the botanical by analytical means. Products that do not contain acemannan are not considered to be true aloe vera based on this standard.

  • What parts of the plant are used in products?
The primary component of the plant used in most products is the leaf, which can be processed in two ways to make aloe vera juice. Aloe vera juice can then also be converted to powder or concentrated. More information on this can be found under “Processing”. The other substance found within the leaf that has been used in commerce, primarily as an OTC laxative drug, is the aloe latex. This substance is found between the rind and the inner leaf material, and is a bitter, yellow-brown to reddish substance that contains anthraquinones, including a powerful constituent called aloin which acts as a laxative. As noted in the processing section below, manufacturers remove this substance during raw material processing and the IASC standard for aloin in products for oral consumption is less than 10ppm (parts per million). For products for topical usage, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review established a limit of 50ppm of aloin, which is the accepted industry standard.

layer), Dermis (the middle layer) and Subcutaneous or Hypodermic (the deepest layer). Stretch marks form in the dermis or middle layer of the skin when the connective tissue is “stretched” beyond the power of its flexibility due to rapid expansion or contraction of the skin. As skin is
stretched, the collagen is weakened, and its normal production cycle is interrupted and damaged. This ultimately results in fine scars under the top layer of the skin. Initially the marks look pink or red, but over time a thin, silvery line appears on the skin of the body and a stretch mark is born. Stretch marks appear on the skin body when someone grows quickly or puts on weight quickly.

  • Can aloe vera be used on tattoos cosmetic products?
Yes, Aloe is great for your tattoo. It’s soothing, moisturizing, nourishing, and easy to use as a part of your tattoo care routine. It’s way more than just a one-trick pony. Aloe works to support the healing process from multiple angles. A tattoo is a form of body art that is created when ink is inserted, using a needle, into the dermis layer of the skin. This changes the skin’s pigment and can be used to create almost any image imaginable, which must be considered an injury to the skin. Your company can make a different product concept for tattoo aftercare that can be formulated with Aloe Vera, focusing on the appropriate healing of the wound below the tattoo. A wound is defined as a lesion and rupture on skin surface that is caused by physical or thermal traumas, which may need some special aftercare therapy. Improvement and healing of wounds in human or developed animals occur by a complex and advanced mechanism consisting of several phases including: inflammation, proliferation, healing, and reconstruction. Any type of tattooing injures the skin, if a dye is injected into or under the skin, respectively. This may cause inflammation. It is, therefore,
not only important to pay attention to special cleanliness and to use sterilized instruments, but also to use dyes having specific properties, which reduce the risk of inflammation. The present wound care system plays a pivotal role in hemostasis, which controls and eventually stops the blood flow. Hemostasis involves constriction of the blood vessel, temporary blockage of the blood vessel and coagulation of blood until the damaged tissue is repaired. Applying an Aloe hydrogel spread on the present wound care system may block the damaged blood vessels while also keeping the coagulated blood and exudates contained within the film layer. Consider the development of tattoo product line as wound care system, who helps to traps moisture around the wound to promote faster healing in the moist environment, and provide an immediate evaporative cooling effect to the
skin and is especially beneficial in treating burn wounds.

Since most signs of aging are caused by skin damage, using vitamin-rich aloe vera lotion can help slow down those signs. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it great for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Because of its anti-fungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, aloe vera can help soothe the effects of numerous skin conditions. Aloe Vera contains saponins. These are soapy substances from the gel that are capable of cleansing and having antiseptic properties. The saponins perform strongly as antimicrobial against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts. New tattoos have special needs, and a tattoo that looks good and ages well owes much good skin care in the first few weeks. To heal properly, tattoos should stay dry and clean. With age, ink seeps into the lower layers of the skin tattoos become more resilient and less affected my minor damage at the surface. Yes, you can use aloe vera lotion products on tattoos to treat skin irritation from tattoos. However, it’s important to note that while using an aloe vera-based cream or lotion can be a great resource during your process of tattoo aftercare, we cannot recommend using straight aloe vera on your skin during the aftercare process. Aloe contains vitamins and amino acids necessary for new tissue growth and polysaccharides that stimulate the body’s immune response and prevent infection. Another part of the equation is Aloe’s concentration of enzymes, which slough off dead skin, stimulating new cell production. Skin regenerates much faster and the risk of infection from airborne pathogens is lower with a moist wound. Hydrogel formulated with Aloe Vera can easily improve wound healing of a freshly applied tattoo, while also reducing the formation of exudative crusting and preventing further ink loss. It also absorbs exudate, allows oxygen through, adheres to the moist would surface and can be removed with little inconveniences for the user The premature removal of a scab or exudative crust can cause injury to the healing wound as well as potential loss of tattoo pigment, which is highly undesirable after the pain and expense of obtaining the tattoo. Recently, hydrogels have been used as a dressing for wound care. Hydrogels are comprised of materials that create intermolecular entanglements using water for dispersal. Hydrogels are highly absorbent natural or synthetic polymers, with high water content, that possess a degree of flexibility like natural tissue. Due to their high-water volume, hydrogels can keep a wound moist yet still absorb exudate. While non-crosslinked hydrogels can be spread over a surface with irregular boundaries, the outer surface remains sticky, requiring a secondary dressing to prevent random debris from clinging to the wound covering.

  • How Aloe Vera Helps Soothe Cold Weather Inflammation?
Winter is notorious for sapping moisture from the skin, leading to dryness and flakiness. Aloe Vera gel, derived from the plant’s fleshy leaves, is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture. Applying a thin layer of pure Aloe Vera gel to the face and body helps lock in hydration, combating the effects of harsh winter conditions. Winter winds and low humidity levels can leave the skin feeling irritated and sensitive. Aloe Vera contains compounds with anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, making it an ideal remedy for calming redness and discomfort. Whether dealing with windburn, chapped lips, or general irritation, develop Aloe Vera products to treat and provide instant relief and promote healing. Aloe vera can be used as moisturizer both on your body and face. Windburn is redness of the skin caused by exposure to strong and cold winds for extended periods of time. This happens because the irritation caused by cold wind and the speed of the wind in low humidity removes a thin layer of fat molecules (oil) from the skin that normally moisturizes it and helps filter the ultra-violet rays of the sun. The skin is dryer in the cold air which allows the wind to break down the fat molecule layer more easily. This, in turn, makes the skin more susceptible to harm. This effect increases with stronger and colder winds. Windburn can occur on both sunny and cloudy days because even on cloudy days there can be glare from the sun.
Windburn can occur when it is snowy outside because the sun can reflect 80% of ultraviolet rays off the snow. Some have argued that windburn is only caused by the drying effects of the wind, but others argue that sunburn also contributes to the redness of the skin (combined with the drying effects of the wind). Formulate Aloe Vera for moisturizing damaged areas. Also, you can make an Aloe helps to retain natural oils on the skin. When a horse’s stomach remains empty for hours, then is too full for short periods, the stomach acid and pepsin have access to unprotected stomach lining and can gradually eat a hole in it. • Does aloe vera enhance performance of racehorse?
As the racehorses’ physical demands increase, so do their nutritional needs. The starting point for this is sufficient calorie intake, which is the easiest to meet. Your horse also needs more protein, minerals, and vitamins, but the fundamental thing is keeping the GI tract functioning well so that those needs can be met by nutrients being effectively absorbed. Getting these nutrients into your horse is only one part of the equation. They also need to be absorbed and efficiently utilized, while the digestive tract remains healthy and ready to support the needs of exercise. At the same time, debilitating disorders of the digestive tract need to be kept under careful control. The first step in accomplishing this is to understand what the GI tract needs to function. First and foremost is a nearly constant flow of food. A grazing feral horse spends most of its time eating a high moisture, high fiber diet – grass. The more grass you can supply the horse, the better. A hay diet should be complemented with protein (if needed), and minerals that balance the hay. Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which are lost with hay curing, may need to be supplemented. If you can meet all your horse’s needs with a hay-based diet and/or pasture, that’s ideal. Because grass and hay (which is basically “hay jerky”) have much lower calorie content than grains or other concentrates, the horse can eat more over the course of the day and always have something in his stomach. This is important to hormonal stability (insulin, thyroid, and cortisol), mental stability and smooth functioning of the GI tract. If grain/concentrates are needed, spread them out over as many meals as possible during the day, to mimic the trickle feeding the horse does with his forages. This too will promote hormonal, mental and digestive stable functions.

  • Why is aloe vera on Prop 65 list?
Non-decolorized whole leaf extract of Aloe vera is on the Proposition 65 list because it can cause cancer. Exposure to this substance may increase the risk of cancer. Proposition 65 requires businesses to determine if they must provide a warning about significant exposure to listed chemicals.

  • What is Proposition 65?
Proposition 65 (“Prop 65”), formally titled “The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986,” is a California right-to-know law that was passed by voters in 19861. Among other things, the law requires that companies inform the public about the presence – even at trace levels – of certain substances in the products they sell or use. These “Prop 65-listed chemicals” are ones for which the State of California has determined that information about the chemical’s toxicity satisfies the regulatory requirements for addition to the Prop 65 list of chemicals.

  • Is Prop 65 intended to protect consumer safety?
Prop 65 is not a product safety law. Rather, it is a right-to-know law requiring the public to be informed when they may be exposed to a Prop 65 listed chemical above a very low threshold. The law specifically requires that the level of a listed substance triggering a Prop 65 warning is significantly lower than the level at which any harm has been documented. As the California agency responsible for implementing Prop 65 has noted, “A Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean that a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements.”

  • How are Prop 65 warnings provided to the public?
When a Prop 65-listed chemical is present in a product above a very low level, the company is required to provide “clear and reasonable” warnings to the public that the product contains or exposes the consumer to “chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer” or “chemicals known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.” Companies may provide the warning by printing it on product labels, including it in documents that accompany the product when it is shipped to a consumer in California, or posting it on signs in California businesses.

  • What kinds of substances are included in the Prop 65 list?
The Prop 65 list includes a wide range of substances, including both synthetic chemicals and those which naturally occur in the environment. It includes individual chemicals as well as complex chemical mixtures. The substance does not have to be intentionally added to the product to trigger the Prop 65 warning requirement. Prop 65 warnings are required for chemicals that are commonly present in everyday products such as foods, beverages, dietary supplements, personal care products as well as for substances such as pesticides, gasoline, automotive exhaust, and cigarette smoke. As a result, warnings can be seen not only on product labels but also posted throughout California in places such as restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, stores, buildings, and parking garages.

  • How are chemicals chosen for listing under Prop 65?
The Prop 65 regulations define several mechanisms for identifying chemicals to be added to the Prop 65 list. The State’s scientific experts can identify candidate chemicals through independent review, or can review the findings of other “authoritative bodies” as to whether a chemical is a carcinogen or a reproductive toxicant. The State may propose a chemical for listing if the chemical is formally required to be labeled as a carcinogen or a reproductive toxicant by another State or Federal agency. Finally, if the chemical is identified as a “hazardous substance” by the California Labor Code, it is automatically proposed for listing under Prop 65.

  • Are there warning requirements for chemicals that are naturally present in a product?
The Prop 65 regulations include a provision stating that Prop 65-listed chemicals that are naturally occurring substances in food do not trigger the warning requirement. This same exception applies to consumer products other than food (such as personal care products), when the chemical is a naturally occurring chemical in food, and the food was used in the manufacture, production, or processing of the consumer product. The listing announcement for “Aloe vera, non-decolorized whole leaf extract” specifically notes that this substance “is a natural constituent of the Aloe barbadensis Miller plant.”

  • Why is “Aloe vera, non-decolorized whole leaf extract” on the Prop 65 list?
The National Toxicology Program (NTP) conducted a two-year carcinogenicity study on a substance identified as “non-decolorized whole leaf extract of Aloe barbadensis Miller,” an unpurified aloe material. Chemical analysis of this material detected the aloin content was between 10,000 – 13,000 mg/L, indicating it was an unfiltered or unpurified aloe vera material (non-decolorized). The results of the NTP oral consumption study concluded that there was “clear evidence of carcinogenicity” in the rats, but not in the mice, after oral exposure to the aloe material for the animals’ lifetime. Based on the conclusions of this study, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IASC) issued a classification of “possibly carcinogenic to humans (Class 2B)” specific to the aloe material that was utilized in the NTP testing. The IARC classification prompted the State of California to propose the addition of this substance to the Prop 65 list via the “Labor Code” listing mechanism.

  • Is “Aloe vera, non-decolorized whole leaf extract” in products sold in California?
The Aloe vera chemical proposed for listing under Prop 65 is not the ingredient that consumers are ingesting when they use the vast majority of commercially available aloe vera products. International Aloe Science Council (IASC) members do not market such products to consumers for oral consumption. The Notice of Intent to List specifically stated that the aloe vera substance proposed for listing “is not the same as Aloe vera decolorized whole leaf extract, Aloe vera gel, Aloe vera gel extract, or Aloe vera latex, which would not be covered by this proposed listing.” These ingredients are specifically not covered by the proposed listing and do not require a Prop 65 warning.

  • Did the IASC provide comments on the initial proposed listing of “Aloe vera, whole leaf extract”?
The IASC provided detailed comments to OEHHA that requested clarification of the chemical substance that is the subject of the listing. The primary comments provided by the IASC are as follows: The chemical name for the proposed listing should be amended to “Aloe vera, non-decolorized whole leaf extract” – this comment was accepted. The listing should specifically reference the aloe vera substances that are not included in the listing. The proposed listing should be limited to oral exposure, as this was the route of exposure used in the NTP testing of this substance.

  • Is Aloe Vera safety of hydroxy anthracene derivatives for use in food (EU)?
In 2021, the European Union (EU) finalized a proposed regulation that prohibits “preparations from the leaf of Aloe species containing hydroxyanthracene derivatives” from being used in foods and supplements. Hydroxyanthracene derivatives (HADs), in the form of aloin and aloe emodin, are naturally occurring compounds in aloe. The basis for this regulation was a 2018 scientific opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) that raised health concerns about HADs in food. This regulation would have severely and, as aloe experts contend, unnecessarily restricted aloe products available in the EU.
In response, the International Aloe Science Council (IASC) – together with Food Supplements Europe (FSE), Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC), American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), and a number of other organizations representing consumers and the aloe industry in Europe – fiercely opposed the EU regulation. To challenge the proposed regulation, IASC submitted comprehensive public comments on behalf of its international membership, along with several other prominent associations and companies.
In these comments, IASC identified the organization’s set limit for HADs in products containing aloe vera. IASC aloe vera quality standards define safe limits for consumption, content, and contaminants. In addition, IASC also specified that the EFSA scientific opinion cited data supporting the safety of aloe vera preparations with low levels of HADs, but this information was disregarded during the risk assessment performed by EFSA.
The effort led by the IASC and others resulted in the recognition of a threshold limit of <1 parts per million (ppm) for aloin and aloe emodin in foods and supplements, a condition met by IASC-certified products. As a result, aloe drinks and supplements are still readily available in Europe. After conducting thorough research and meticulous analysis of the last update on the EFSA regulation EU 2021/468 dated 18 March 2021 (accessible at: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32021R0468&from=EN), we have uncovered significant information pertaining to the specification range of HAD content. While our previous specifications were tailored to our Aloe Vera 200:1 Powder (Raw Material), our diligent investigation has led us to a remarkable conclusion. The Committee's findings indicate that the specified reference of 1ppm applies to products that are ready for use post-preparation, following the manufacturer's instructions, exhibiting an analyzed level equal to or exceeding 1 ppm of aloe-emodin and/or 1 ppm of emodin and/or 1 ppm of aloin A + aloin B.

  • What are the concerns of Taiwanese FDA regarding aloin/HDA content in aloe vera?
Concerns about HADs did not stop with the EU. Taiwan also recently announced new regulations for some food products containing aloe vera. According to the Taiwanese Food and Drug Administration (Taiwanese FDA), plans are underway for new policies that would regulate the use of aloe in edible products by January 1, 2023.
Beginning on January 1, 2023, only properly peeled leaves of aloe vera and aloe ferox could be further processed for use in edible products. In addition, edible products cannot contain more than 10 ppm of the aloin and must include pregnancy warnings on their labels due to studies suggesting that long-term intake of food or supplements containing aloin might be toxic for the liver and kidneys.
In their regulations, the Taiwanese FDA referenced IASC’s recommendation to set the maximum allowable aloin content in edible products to 10 ppm. Expanding on this, IASC submitted a science-based response to Taiwan’s regulations demonstrating the safety of aloin at low levels. Consequently, any products containing less than 1 ppm of aloin will not need the additional warning labels in Taiwan.

  • How to know which aloe vera Products are safe?
Thanks in part to its long history of use and synonymity with soothing relief, aloe vera products have maintained a ubiquitous market presence in both mainstream and specialty retail. However, keeping aloe vera products available to everyday consumers in the U.S. and abroad takes strategic, ongoing and largely unseen regulatory efforts by IASC and other industry organizations. Further, not all aloe vera products are created equal.
