Many antiperspirants contain aluminum that has been implicated as a risk factor for both breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Underarm deodorants control odor by eliminating the bacteria that cause odor. Conventional antiperspirant salts tend to be acidic in aqueous solution, a property which makes them effective bactericides, thereby providing a deodorant benefit, but which can also cause skin irritation.
Therefore, it is beneficial to control the body odor without the use of aluminum. Most skincare products use heavily synthetic preservatives (such as parabens and triclosan) to increase shelf life to 2-3 years.

However, all synthetic preservatives may be considered toxic in high doses and cause skin irritation and allergies, particularly on sensitive skins. Therefore, it would be better to use natural preservatives with little amount of synthetic preservatives to control all kinds of bacteria, fungi and molds to assure the safety of the products. Other chemicals used in skincare products as stabilizers or emulsified agents such as phthalates that may cause breast cancer. It is better to use emulsified wax (vegetable base) that conforms to the current USP/NF Monograph.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand Sanitizer

A hand antiseptic, hand disinfectant, or hand sanitizer is a supplement or alternative to hand washing with soap and water. Many preparations are available, including gel, foam, and liquid solutions. The active ingredient in hand sanitizers may be isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol), ethanol, n-propanol, or povidone-iodine. Inactive ingredients in alcohol rubs typically include a thickening agent such as polyacrylic acid for alcohol gels, humectants such as glycerin for liquid rubs, propylene glycol, and essential oils of plants. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are more effective at killing microorganisms than soaps and do not dry out hands as much.

Adding Aloe Vera gel to homemade hand sanitizer provides moisture and nourishment to help balance the harsh drying effects of alcohol. It also adds some thickness to your hand sanitizer for easier and more effective application, adding to the important contact time of alcohol on your skin.
When it comes to preventing the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19, nothing beats good old-fashioned handwashing. But if water and soap aren’t available, your next best option, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.

The isopropyl alcohol is responsible for killing off the germs, while aloe vera is needed to stop your hands for drying out too much – the alcohol itself has the ability to leave hands very cracked and sore, so the aloe vera makes the formula more gentle and adds in moisture. In certain embodiments, the humectant is, or the plurality of humectants are, selected from the group consisting of aloe vera liquid, aloe vera powder, aloe vera gel and glycerol. Hand sanitizers work for a “mere two minutes, but they are an important two minutes, killing potentially dangerous bacteria already present on the skin”.

Its stated that the market for alcohol-based hand sanitizers is expected to grow to $402 million by 2015, citing the increased need for sanitation in rural and hard-to-service areas .In an amount of from about 10% to about 60% by volume. Optionally, the hand sanitizer composition includes ethanol and/or propanol in a total amount up to 70% by volume. The propanol, if added, can be n-propyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, or a combination of n-propyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol. The hand sanitizer composition may also optionally include water in an amount up to 20% by volume. Also included in the hand sanitizer composition is one humectant or a plurality of humectants in an amount of from about 10% to about 80% by volume. In certain embodiments, the hand sanitizer composition includes one alcohol or a plurality of alcohols having from 4 to 6 carbon atoms and a single hydroxyl group, wherein the alcohol or alcohols having from 4 to 6 carbon atoms and a single hydroxyl group are present in the composition.

Overexposure to the sun can cause skin lesions with pain, redness and even blisters. The Aloe Vera plant has been used for centuries to treat the sun’s consequences on the skin with regenerative and nourishing properties for the damaged areas. Thanks to its healing properties, the use of aloe goes back to humanity’s origins. Even as early as the first century of our era, Dioscorides described it in detail in his Greek herbarium, highlighting its medicinal and cosmetic properties.
The Aloe Vera pulp acts as a natural remedy to treat solar overexposure, as it contains properties that favor skin healing and skin regeneration thanks to mannose phosphate. Aloe Vera contains glucomannan, a mannose-rich polysaccharide, and gibberellin, a growth hormone, interacts with growth factor receptors on the fibroblast, thereby stimulating its activity and proliferation, which in turn significantly increases collagen synthesis after topical and oral Aloe Vera.

The content of the Aloe Vera leaves has high anti-inflammatory and analgesic power, through components such as phytosterol or the generation of salicylic acid. This property helps to minimize the pain caused by sunburn and to deflate the area, usually swollen by damage from overexposure. Among the benefits that make the Aloe Vera a big help against solar overexposure, are also its antiseptic properties, which minimize the chances of suffering an infection of the skin. In this way, the application of Aloe Vera on the burn and the damaged skin prevents flaking and the appearance of blisters.
The pure Aloe Vera gel absorbs quickly and penetrates several layers of the skin, which nourishes with its high content of vitamins, enzymes, minerals, anti oxidants. With the use of Aloe Vera, sunburns heal faster; it maintains the tan and makes the skin look cured and healthy.

The pulp extracted from the Aloe Vera leaves has high doses of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and potassium, vitamins A, B and C, as-well as plant hormones and essential amino acids. The regenerating effect of Aloe has a great impact on the efficiency of cell division Aloe vera works at the cellular level; the rich, nutritional composition of the pulp causes skin micro circulation. Vitamins, minerals, free amino acids, and bio-stimulators – it all goes straight into the skin, and better yet, the animated capillary circulation more efficiently distributes these nutrients into the tissues of the skin.

The skin consists of 72% of collagen fibers and the spaces between collagen fibrils are filled by mucopolysaccharides produced by our body, but Aloe mucopolysaccharides also fit there perfectly. Aloe also makes the fibroblasts produce collagen – which means that Aloe has lifting qualities. Aloe Vera improves the skin’s ability to hydrate itself; it is therefore an active skin conditioning agent.Externally applied, it is a natural skin with the ability to penetrate into the skin and transport healthy substances through it. Aloe Vera makes it a treatment for premature aging of skin, healing of wounds, burns, sunburns, cellulitis, and more.

Studies have shown that the majority of these biologically active substances are located in a clear gel fillet located in the center of Aloe leaves. Historically, Aloe products have been used in dermatological applications for the treatment of burns, sores and other wounds. This traditional use has stimulated a great deal of research on identifying compounds from Aloe plants that have clinical activity, particularly anti-inflammatory activity. Aloe Vera has a mucilage tissue (gel). This mucilage consists of some glycoproteins, which prevent against inflation and pain and accelerate their improvement trend. Likewise, it comprises polysaccharides, which stimulate skin growth and healing. The mucilage of this plant can be used for treatment of internal and external wounds. Beside the polysaccharides, these are the most beneficial.

Aloe components for tattoo aftercare:
Aloe lipids
Essential oils are antiseptic, bactericidal and have the ability to act against viruses. There are no side effects and germs do not develop resistance to them. Gibberellin (a plant growth hormone) in Aloe increases wound healing by increasing protein synthesis.
The activity of gibberellin-like substances possibly plays a major role in the wound healing and anti-inflammatory activity of Aloe Vera.

Aloe Saponins
Saponins are natural anti-fungal agents which inhibit the growth of bacteria, viruses and fungi. They increase the concentration of antibodies in the blood, lower cholesterol and normalize blood sugar concentration. Saponins also increase mineral absorption helping the neutralization process of acidic waste, improving digestion and helping in achieving overall wellness. The saponins perform strongly as antimicrobial against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts Saponins when mixed with water reduce the surface tension of water, allowing the formation of small stable bubbles. As a consequence of their surface-active properties, saponins are excellent foaming agents (very stable). Today, Aloe saponins are used in the manufacture of toothpaste, shampoos, liquid soaps, and cosmetics, kitty litter, detergents, beverages, lipsticks, herbal skin balms, and many other things. Ideal to aloe soap non scented or aloe body wash for tattoo washing care. The properties of Aloe Vera saponification is conducted by the combination of amino acids and polysaccharides that make these accumulations of external fat and become contaminants foamy substances, being removable easily with daily grooming.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is required for growth and repair of tissues in all parts of the body. It is necessary to form collagen, an important protein used to make skin, scar tissue, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. Vitamin C is essential for wound healing and repair and maintenance of cartilage, bones and teeth. It is also one of many antioxidants such as vitamin E and beta-carotene.

Aloe contains amino acid Leucine
The strongest of the BCAAs, is responsible for the regulation of blood-sugar levels, the growth and repair of tissues in skin, bones and of course skeletal muscle. It’s a strong booster to Human Growth Hormone (HGH). It helps in healing wounds, regulating energy, and assists in the preventing the breakdown of muscle tissue.

Aloe Lignins
These are responsible to penetrate through the human skin to the dermis layer where new skin cells are made. This is especially of importance when trying to heal skin conditions. Salicylic acid and other antiprostaglandin compounds may be responsible for Aloe’s local anti-inflammatory activity, possibly due to an inhibitory effect on the arachidonic acid pathway via cyclooxygenase.
A hydrogel formulated with Aloe Vera can easily improve wound healing of a freshly applied tattoo, while also reducing the formation of exudative crusting and preventing further ink loss. It also absorbs exudate, allows oxygen through, adheres to the moist would surface and can be removed with little inconveniences for the user.
